Many people experience challenges as they adjust to pregnancy or parenthood, which can result in feeling overwhelmed, anxious, worried, angry, depressed, and a loss of identity. Intrusive, repetitive thoughts and experiencing moments of rage can be a common experience for those experiencing a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder.

Approximately 15 to 20% of mothers (including mothers who birthed, adopted or whose babies were born through surrogacy) and 1 in 10 non-birthing parents are affected by a perinatal mood disorder. This often negatively impacts sleep, appetite, thoughts, mood and relationships.

With help, you can feel better. Together, we can work to identify the challenges you are experiencing and develop goals and strategies to improve your mental health, incorporating well-researched, evidenced-based methods. For many couples, the transition to parenthood can be a bumpy road, at times leading to increased conflict and an overall decrease in relationship satisfaction. I offer couples counselling, providing a space where couples are supported to develop skills and strategies to improve communication, conflict resolution, and appreciation of one another with the overall goal of improving the quality of their relationship.
